GCSE PE - % of pupils achieving each grade
What does this show us?
We can see that there in 2024 a larger number of pupils achieved top grades for AQA/OCR GCSE PE in comparison to Edexcel GCSE PE. For example, 24% of AQA pupils achieved a grade 7 or above, compared to 21 % of Edexcel pupils. This equates to hundreds of pupils across the country.
GCSE PE - Grade Boundaries
What does this show us?
On the surface it can seem that high grade boundaries mean that it is harder to achieve highly on an exam paper. But in essence this should mean that the paper is actually deemed as ‘easier’ and therefore the boundaries are bumped up. Across the two papers, OCR has higher grade boundaries than Edexcel and AQA.

What does this show us?
We can see that there in 2024 a much larger number of pupils achieved top grades for Sport Science in comparison to Sport Studies. For example, 9.1% of Sport Science pupils achieved a *2, compared to 4.6% of Sport Studies pupils.

But in essence this should mean that the paper is actually deemed as ‘easier’ and therefore the boundaries are bumped up. In 2024 the Sport Studies exam had higher grade boundaries than Sport Science for the top two available grades (*2 & D2).
